mmmmm... these photos of purusha people's winter 2012 collection fill me with so much peace and happiness. a few weeks ago, i had a little shoot with the amazingly talented photographer katie adelsberger, and with three sister models from dana point. everything came together SO beautifully, and i am beyond stoked on how the photos came out! a few of the items are now for sale on etsy and on my website, and i'll be adding more over the next couple weeks. so sit back, soak in the rays of venice, california, and feel the calm and ease these comfy colorful clothes invoke... xo.
this weekend was SO nice. lots of time to get out and enjoy california. i really have plenty of work to do, but we have to make that time to get out in the fresh air and sunshine and explore our beautiful planet. patrick, liam, and i went to tuna canyon in malibu and frolicked merrily.
the other day i read a really though provoking and truthful statement on a friend's facebook wall.
she said:
"Please don't allow life to intimidate you...please do not allow others to intimidate you. Know that your actions are based on certain intentions. Focus on those things. Focus on where your energy is stemming from. Is it from a place of compassion, good will, serenity, well being...or is it stemming from fear, defense, hatred, unhappiness? Focus on these things...focus on YOURSELF...breathe into yourself, know yourself...then the whole universe will celebrate with you, no matter what appears to be 'happening' on the outside."
this resonated with me so much... to not worry about what my actions look like or how i appear to others, but to know all is well and right if my intentions are good and coming from a place of love and kindness, is a huge reminder to stop caring about what others think of me. not that i don't care about others, but those that are in sync with the universe and loving without judgment or fear will recognize those very same things in me. so there's nothing to worry about, no one to feel intimidated by. as long as i continue on my journey with an open heart and the benefit of all beings in mind, i can't go wrong. phew!
thank you with all my heart for the reminder my fb friend. ;)
good afternoon! hope you've had a beautiful and happy day :) .
look out, i think i have a great idea!! it popped into my head (i just typed pooped instead of popped, that would work too perhaps?!) while hiking red rock canyon in topanga the other day. there are so many times when customers want to change up certain things about pants- like make them leggings, a different color, a different screen print... so i thought why not offer à la carte yoga pants?!
what i mean by à la carte is, you, the customer, are the designer. you pick and choose what color pants you like, what cut- boot cut, big flare, leggings, or skinny fit, what screen print, what style waistband, and whatever extras you want on top... and voilà!, (i'm really working the letter 'à' today) your very own yoga pants you've been dreaming of that no one else has! isn't this exciting!?!? i want some!
tomorrow i'm going to be putting up a very special listing on etsy, and another on my website that walks you through the whole process of designing pants. i can't wait to see what you brilliant creative people come up with!
yesterday was SO fun. we shot some photos of purusha's spring/summer 2013 collection! i had the honor of working with 4 amazing women. i am pretty lucky. and to shoot in venice?! unreal! here are a few sneak peaks...
my sister kate inspires me. so much. she's amazing!! this weekend i had the honor of accompanying her to her 4th marathon, in long beach. we lounged around in our beautiful hotel room the day before, chatting and laughing, and watching kate get all her things ready for the race the next morning. she was so cute, lining up her goos and laying out her singlet with her bib pinned on it ever so perfectly. we talked about our lives, our loves, our dreams... and i fully believe my little sister has what it takes to make her dreams come true. her running is incredible!!! her seriousness and dedication to it is truly awesome.
the next morning kate got up at 6 and headed to run 26.2 miles!! AH!!! i woke up a little later ( ;) ) and did some yoga and dedicated my practice to her run... that it could be fun, and playful, and worth every moment. the race started at 7, and i went to meet my sis at the finish line at 10. holy cow right, to be done running 26.2 miles in 3 hours?! i can't even imagine. when i got to the finish line i was already tearing up and erupting with excitement. seeing all the accomplished athletes finish their race, with so much courage and discipline, was so freakin cool. about 10 minutes after getting to the finish line, the announcer said "here comes kate elliott!", oh man, i shouted her name and yelled "GO SISTER!!!" and obviously cried some more. it was soooo beautiful!!! kate looked so strong, so fierce, so healthy. oh yeah, and she was wearing her purusha rocker girl shorts and looking fantastic in them! we found each other in the crowd shortly after and just lounged in the shade for a bit... and discussed how kate MUST follow the road her running is taking her on. she is too good not to.
AND, kate finished 1st in her age group, 5th out of all women, and 51st out of all runners in the marathon, with a time of 3:12!!!! what?!!?! HOW?! haha! i am so proud to be her big little sis. we met up with kate's sweet friend jill and her husband for a moment, and jill finished 3rd out of all women! so exciting!! santa barbara runners are pretty amazing aren't they?!
sister, i sure look up to you. keep it up! we are all so excited to watch what you will do with your beautiful life! i love you!
i'm good, i actually feel really nice and balanced. since last thursday, patrick, liam, and i have been all eating healthier than before. not that we were unhealthy by any means, but i definitely felt like i was overdoing it on the sweets and breads. the plan is now- more veggies, more protein, less empty carbs and sugars, and less grains. so pretty similar to the paleo diet. i hate calling anything a "diet" because dieting sucks, so it's more like a lifestyle change... a change we plan on sticking with. it feels really great so far!! i feel lighter with a steady energy rather than ups and downs.
this little clip above really made sense to me. it seems so much more efficient to burn fats rather than carbs, where you have to bring insulin into the mix. plus, you burn fat if you don't have to burn carbs first! very interesting!
i don't want any of you to think i think i'm fat, k? i know i'm relatively healthy, just feel like it's fun to try something different. why not? patrick and i took some 'before' photos of ourselves. haha they are hilarious. i will be showing them in about a month or so after we have the 'after' photos (no way will we release the befores yet!! aah!).
so that's what's going on with me. working as usual, eating well, AND preparing for a purusha photo shoot next week! it will be with some gorgeous gals and it features purusha's spring/summer 2013 line. YES! i can't wait.
oh yeah, photos at the beginning of the post are our meals today! morning smoothie: banana, mango, goat yogurt, local honey, greens powder, psyllium husk, raw sprouted veggie protein powder, water, and lavender. lunch salad: baby spinach, cucumber, avocado, goat gouda, heirloom tomato, seaweed, chick peas, nutritional yeast, lemon, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar! so good!
