choose calm as business has been picking up, and in the absence of a second job, i have allowed stress to creep into my life. it's easy to allow yourself to feel overwhelmed when there is just so much work to be done! running your own business is a little crazy, i'm realizing. . . starting out is especially difficult. i am the factory worker, the seamstress, the designer, the advertiser, the book keeper, the marketing person. sometimes my 'to do' list is so out of control and lengthy, just looking at it gets me worried! i had a bit of a break down the other day, as i allowed my stress to build itself into a wall around me. and i was leaving it unchecked. i continued with my normal life- working hard on purusha, running/biking, yogaing. though my life was basically the same as always, i couldn't help but feel like i was running on empty. my temper and patience became shorter and i started eating a lot more sugar. i felt a bit hopeless and helpless. my mind went into autopilot, and i forgot that i had the option to steer my own ship. taking the time to meditate is hugely important. sometimes i'm just so go, go, go! that i have a hard time remembering to slow down, reflect, and decide if my current thought process is workable. upon watching my recurring thoughts i saw fear, anxiety, and dread- ugh well of course i felt like shit! my thoughts took control, when i should be controlling my thoughts! it's quite liberating- to realize stress is not necessary by any means. it doesn't get the job done any better or faster, and it's so unhealthy for the body. as a person that preaches yoga and health and calm, well i know i must first become an example of that before i can influence anyone else. so i'm choosing calm. it's not that the feelings of anxiety are gone, but rather i won't allow them to become my daily mantra. instead i am watching myself, like i would my own baby, and i'm not allowing the negativity to have power over me. the simplest answer is usually the best- to take a deep breath and let go of unusable thoughts. replace them with laughter, thoughts of love and intention, and with patience that all the work will get done.

madewell for fall! cruising the internet this morning, i checked in on a site i adore for classic pieces of excellent quaility- madewell brand. i'm pretty much dreading winter, and scared of it as i am every year, but a cozy sweater can really brighten my outlook! AND autumn is just beginning, bringing the most beautiful days of the year in my opinion. i love fall hikes and runs, apple picking, baking, knitting, crisp fresh air... if only autumn wasn't a harbinger of the long and bitter winter! i'm hoping this year i can get away to somewhere warm for a little while... for now, i'm looking forward to fall styles! check out some of my favorite garments from madewell: the striped ex-boyfriend sweater - reminds me so much of a sweater i had in high school, i don't know what happened to it? legging cords - look so comfy, laid back, and sexy at the same time! cambridge cardigan - also reminds me of a cardigan i would borrow from my friend colleen in junior high. it's practical, yet feminine. midnight blazer - again, i'm loving this combination of easy going comfort with a classy edge. it's wool, so like a comfy sweater, but with a blazer cut so it dresses up any outfit! mmmmmm... check out madewell here ---> madewell shop

your purusha order i think a lot about the presentation of purusha: the hang tags, the tags inside the garment, the photos, and of course the look of the package that comes in the mail! my latest lil packaging idea is i sew a small bag out of recycled fabrics, and wrap the clothing up in it! it's easy, and it looks really classy! check it out!

slight clutter photography this morning i woke to see purusha featured in an etsy treasury alongside the seller, 'slight clutter photography'. i was immediately drawn to this photo, as i LOVE deer: 'in the quiet' the treasury is also pretty gorgeous ---> peace & quiet an naturale i love slight clutter's photos because of the feelings they bring about in me- nostalgia, hope, peace, and wonder at the natural world. the pictures are very bittersweet, capturing beautiful moments that we only glimpse for a short time. these are some of my favorites. they are making me feel excited for the short but sweet time that is autumn: 'fog season' 'fall foliage' 'a splash of red' i also adore this one, and would love to get it for my yoga room :) : 'breaking through' check out slight clutter photograpy ---> HERE at www.slightclutter.etsy.com

winter styles the future of purusha is harmony with woman made (still environmentally friendly of course) and natural materials. this winter purusha is looking forward to earth tones with bursts of color and metallics here and there, but overall gentle contrasts. i'll be turning a bit to purusha's roots, in natural dyes. i started out trying natural plant dyes, but as we now know, they faded too much... so i'm thinking i'd like to create some of the same vibrant yet slightly muted looks with synthetics. midnight blacks always look tasteful and classy- but i'd like to go beyond the standard black yoga pant... i'm waiting for my right brain to come up with some ideas on this one! peaches and apricot tones paired with taupes and camel browns... a `la socotra sands yoga pants here: and lotus with raw umber shown in the new beginnings pants: i'm really looking forward to the day i can afford to use some more eco friendly fabrics- modal blends, organic cottons, tencel. i'm also thinking of sewing some of my own t-shirts again- looser more draping fits that flatter every figure and pair beautifully with tighter fitting yoga pants. look out for monogrammed and uniquely screen printed purusha pillowcases coming soon to etsy! handmade by me out of 100% silk :).. should be lovely! in fact... i am headed to my sewing machine right now! xoxo

socotra i am dying to visit this place, socotra, off the coast of yemen. it is one of the most isolated and alien like places on earth! more than 1/3 of the plant life is found nowhere else in the world! so incredible! i have been yearning for a good travel somewhere, but my finances will not allow it right now :( whenever i feel a bit tired and like i don't want to work on purusha- i just look at photos of socotra. to set foot on that paradise is one of my goals in life. i am excited for that day!
