sister and her man visit topanga!

the boyz.

we hiked the beautiful red rocks canyon trail in topanga.

then went out to eat at the most magical restaurant in town- the inn of the seventh ray. it really was like a faerie land there! and the food was fantastic!! i am in love. with topanga, eating, my sister kate and chris, patrick, and our day spent together. it was perfect.

kate and i joked about having a double wedding here. haha so cheesy. while the boys pretended not to hear.

this is me after dinner. happy and sleepy.

but not that sleepy.

this is very typical when we get home. ;)

today, i sew!! what fun!

xo.

i get another year.

patrick made me cake!! it was soooo good. in bed too! first cake patrick made from scratch. he was amazed at how much sugar and butter are in a cake. kept saying, "are you sure this is right?" haha. yes desserts, very bad for you.

 birthday peonies

patrick's new computer arrived. we watched seinfeld on it. :)

and pat made me dinner in bed too! having a mattress on the floor, in the living room, may be, the end of me. ;) . we had raw veggie tortillas and sangiovese.

my birfday dress from my mama.

yes, i get another year. that is how i am looking at it. every birthday is the universe giving you the gift of another year to keep trying, to keep going after what you believe in. and accept nothing less, because we only have this one shot.

i was complaining to patrick last night that it's a dumb tradition you can't share your birthday wish or it won't come true. i like sharing my dreams and thoughts with people. so F that! i'm telling you!

my wish is to let my silliness out. laughing is my favorite thing, yet sometimes i get very serious and worrisome. and it does nothing for me. {ok, i'm talking a lot about ME right now, and i am truly sorry if i seem narcissistic and boring right now. but, i suppose, this post is for me. a reminder of what i want this year.} i think i'm pretty funny, and sometimes i forget to just let go and find the funniness. laughter and smiles make life bearable when stress, fear, and laziness bubble up. so why not laugh if off? seriously, WHY NOT? when i think about people i admire most, they are usually people that laugh easily and don't fall under the gloom forever when life gets hard.

so this year i vow to make more light, laughter, and love in my life. life really is like a strange game, a performance where we can act however we like. i want to act more like ME, and never forget what i goofy, happy being i am.

today i am 29!

the last year of being in my 20's. kinda a big deal. but then again, just a number, right?

my day so far has been nice and low key. i woke up and went running with liam around topanga, saw our horsey friend, and then i came home to open my lovely gifts from my mama!! so many sweet thoughtful things and i feel so loved.

i ate cookies, chocolate, and tea for breakfast, so even if the rest of my day ends up sucking, it would be all good ;) . seriously, sweets for breakfast is so... SWEET!

now i am heading out to LA with patrick and hitting up the fashion district for fabrics and exploring, eating some food somewhere in LA, and going to the salvation army to hunt for treasures! oh yeah!! when we get home patrick is making me dinner and a cake! amazing!! and my special day continues all weekend, which is always awesome.. we have some more great things planned. i'll tell ya later ;).

thank you all my friends and sweet people for the warm birthday wishes! i truly feel blessed and embraced in love today. 29, you are going to be wonderful!

this morning.

ok there is the SWEETEST horsey down the road from us. i am in love. this guy is sooo friendly and gentle. oh man, i want a horsey.

here is liam, the lovely horse, and me going onto autopilot baby voice whenever i talk to animals:

running around my neighborhood here in topanga is a delight! soooo beautiful and the most amazing aromas wherever i turn. jasmine, honeysuckle, pines, eucalyptus. it's heavenly.

the road to our house.

eucalyptus trees

more views on the road to our humble home.

i am constantly amazed by the variety of plants in california. pines, oaks, flowers galore, cacti, succulents. it rules!

this is the view from our house. not too shabby!

and here is our lil home! we really like it. :)

liam is so smiley after our morning run.

walking in the door... it's still a bit messy, as we're unpacking slowly and buying some furniture. but it's coming along!

it's so bright in here, pretty awesome in contrast to our old place in santa barbara. it was kinda dark. so we are really celebrating this abundance of light!

now i am going to go dye some clothes, and get more giddy for my birthday TOMORROW! YAY! xo

purusha evolves.

hello there!

hope you're having a lovely day!

i sure am. :) it's my birthday on thursday (eeeee!!), and i am still like a child when it comes to holidays and birthdays so i'm kinda a little giddy this week in anticipation of my day. yes, i am perhaps spoiled in this way, but i freakin love my birthday. i will be 29 years old!!! what?! when did this happen!? but growing older is FUN. every year i am a happier healthier woman, for sure.

so this post is not all about my birthday, oh boy. it's about purusha people and the changes i plan to make to my business over the next few months.

so what's going on over here? i still am working non-stop on etsy orders, which i am HIGHLY grateful for. my etsy customers are the sweetest, and i feel like i've found so many darling friendships over the incredible site that is etsy.com. i have a few wholesale orders floating around which is always awesome, but a lot of work, so i'm trying to figure out how to make that more sustainable for me. yet where my head is really at, at this moment, is fully designing my own clothing from scratch.

constructing my own yoga leggings, tees, pants, dresses, etc with my own patterns, and my own sewing + dyeing + screen printing is my dream. don't get me wrong, i feel so so so fortunate that i can work with wholesale companies and buy blank pants, leggings, and tops and go from there, but somehow, this part of the clothing process leaves me feeling not 100% proud or 100% satisfied. i want what i sell to be fully purusha people's, and i need to feel totally responsible for the entire process of fiber -> fabric -> color -> print -> finished garment. i also want more versatility and control over the styles and cuts of my clothing, so i realize the only way this is possible right now is for me to construct the clothing myself (and with the help of other seamstresses once i begin hiring help, of course. but this is another dream for another day).

for some reason, i've had like this phobia of the sewing machine, the serger, the cover stitch machine. but why? i am facing my sewing fear NOW. i've been practicing and creating prototypes, and feeling really really happy with the results. see the pants i am wearing in the above photos?! I MADE 'EM! 100%! can you tell i am proud? though it is silly, i know. because this is just the beginning...

so slowly, but surely, and especially as my website finally is finished; i am excitedly looking forward to integrating hand sewn, hand dyed, and hand printed clothing into my shop and into my inventory. the prices will be higher, but the quality will be higher as well, and the products will be amazingly special. and eventually i will replace all my items in my shop with 100% purusha people garments. so so rad. just typing this i get adrenalined (not a word.)!

so look out purusha people, and prepare to be spoiled with the best yoga clothing ever made!!!! as spoiled as i hope to be this week on my birthday ;). but seriously, i want to dress you in simply gorgeous handmade, with SO much love, purusha people high fashion yoga lounge wear. YES!!!

getting all snug and settled.

good afternoon! this is what our house looked like a few days ago! ah! it's been improving drastically everyday though... :)

here's patrick enjoying our lovely light from our friend kara the other evening after we watched indiana jones. i've never seen most of the movies, they're pretty awesome!

finally, we have a king size mattress!!! liam is very happy in it.

above are some views from my run this morning around the neighborhood. i really am enjoying it here so far. topanga is so so pretty and peaceful, and the people are super nice and friendly. the air smells fresh and there are the most beautiful flowers blooming everywhere!

everyday we work a little more on the house. it's really coming together now, i'll be sure to post some photos when it's almost done!

and above are more photos from my run this weekend when it was hot and sunny!

topanga canyon, you are a magical place and i kinda love you already!

we have a great place to watch the sunset from our house.

today i am back to work on purusha, and getting caught up on all my emails and tying up loose ends. but i'm really really happy, and feel like we've finally found a place that is perfect for us. :)
